Projecting as a Teacher
Meditation: Meditation on Your Self as Yogi
Yogi Bhajan was dressed in shorts with an orange turban. The class was in the evening...a change from seeing him in his white robes. Did it change the lecture, no. Did it change the meditation, no. Dress does change some things but what...?
What do you think you have learned?
Life is not what you think...life is accepted...surrender to fit in with everyone...life is mutual...surrender to yourself...
Human is the medium for the teacher.
Since this lecture is transcribed in the Master’s Touch book, my notes have less to do with providing information and more to do with myself getting the impact of Yogi Bhajan’s words.
What I have found, and I may have mentioned this before...for me he speaks in Nad...simple listening to his words are inspiring and relaxing.
The meditation was unique in the Kundalini Yoga tradition as it was beyond mantra, breath, mudra, eye focus, process...simple meditation on your goodness, purity...etc. etc. and that your here...(hear) by God’s will.
...learn from Self...self disipline, self honor...
A friend of mine related a story about a Zen monk he was learning from...I can’t remember the entire story, they were talking about destiny and freewill and karma...the one line is enough..”free will is over rated.”

The Golden Rules of a Teacher
Meditation: Gian Sudhaa Simran Kriya
Know how to obey...then can command...then the 5 tattawas will obey you.
Normal tendency...we want to command first.
He told his famous up in the tree story...his teacher told him to climb up into a tree and stay till he got back. He came back three days later.
Teacher gives experience.
We pay teach so there is no relationship of obligation.
He shared lots of rules, which he has shared before since this was teacher training. Although with some additional details.
Once accept teacher, never deny. Yet he also said previously that the teacher accepted you???

What is quitting? God never abandons. Life without challenge is a useless life.
Quit means can’t face facts. Face truth. Tests my intelligence...the most bizarre, dirty...
I sat watching and listening...what about intuition or being successful...how could he...Yogi Bhajan with all his knowledge and wisdom be in the middle of the stuff hitting the fan...and still keeping up, speaking with grace and successful.
This is changing how I think/feel about what happens around me...did I cause it...
He went on to emphasis FAITH, the juice of life, the elixir that always works out...but if it cracks, that is it...the end.
Wow...was this a yoga class or Sikh class? Isn’t faith more a religion thing?

This is a practical workshop. The duty of the negative mind...to negate...to protection. Seek God’s protection and give....accept the unknown, the infinite, accept your gift of life...or live in your negative mind.
Yep, I just wrote that summary...certainly seems that Yogi Bhajan’s talks are integrated and build and interweave with all of his teachings...cause my yogi mind goes...what about my negative mind...that what its suppose to do and it does it really well (I am guessing others as well) yet seem to be in need of another facet to make it work correctly.
He said the 5 rasas, need 5 outlets...no way to stop them, they always want more...when mind rules your ability to get to infinite is compromised. Your best watch the lecture, I don’t want to sound to negative :)
In God we trust. Feel God with us. Confirm God in us.
He told a wonderful story about a husband and wife about accepting the gifts of each other...live and let live...and not attempting to control or be jealous or conquer your partner...the was 1986 and in this story the women was the “the saint” and the man was “learning”.

I have been avoiding this lecture for 16 years...you have been given as a gift 5 tattwas, 7 chakras, 10 bodies, 3 gunas, one consciousness and x amount of prana...we develop our personality but poorly practice it...we develop our mentality...and it controls our life...you must control your mind...never obey mind.
Mind is a servant. It has salient features which you obey because...and it takes your deeper into duality and you loose your spirit, your values, your soul.
He took stories and gave example in his non-linear way and my reaction of...did he really say that.
Stand out with your spirit and see how the universe serves you. I flashed that he didn’t say how God would serve you. He seemed to be more expressive in his hand gestures and facial features.

We have a mentality, not only a personality...we don’t acknowledge this...the personality and mentality need to be in synch or you won’t be able to do what you say you will do or follow the good advice. You will do something different and wonder why...you have a wonderful personality but your mentality is...
Your mentality rules your personality but for a life as human your personality should rule your mentality. If mentality rules...you’re a beast...an animal...and animals have wonderful character...but still animals and only have the character of animals. He shared an amazing story about temple dogs and for all you animal lovers who consider animals the same as human, please see this lecture. These temple dogs were trained for warning, receiving and attacking. They were allowed to go where even some of the monks were not allowed to go.

Life is not about good and bad but the experience of life. We normally go for security...even in religion...simple be yourself.
Difficult to paraphrase as he wove this theme for about 10 minutes...how he can be outspoken about religion and yoga...allowing us to go to its essence. As I mention in the introduction to the blog...see and hear for yourself.
He was even more graphic in his explanation as "we are never free of the bottle or the..." How many of us told our children or even ourselves to simple be yourself. We tell them...do this, become that, get this, wait for that...even...I am looking at my notes and know they are correct, yet it seems like words of advice only a Master could say so I won’t say.

The First Review: November 2, 1988; Los Angeles, CA
Date: November 2, 1988
Length: 45 minutes
Meditation/Yoga: meditation and yoga
Location: Los Angeles, CA
The class was in Los Angeles, California, in the morning, just before people went to work. It was a combined yoga class and meditation. I believe the yoga class is in one of the manuals, body angles.
The meditation is called Ganapati or Ganesh. I picked this as my first because it has my name; Ganesh and I wanted a lecture and meditation that has some deep connection. In essence, each of us has a meditation with our name on it, whether for 40 days, 90 days, 120 days, 1,000 days or a lifetime.
In the Aquarian Age, meditation will be a natural aspect of our life. We will value meditation and practice daily.

FAQ and Fine Print
1) Where do we get/see/look at/purchase the audio and video lectures? (please also read #2)
There are two main sources for the lectures:
KRI- http://www.kriteachings.org/
Ancient Healing Ways- http://www.a-healing.com/.
In what format, which ones, etc. etc. is in constant change so you will need to visit their sites and call them for details.
I...or rather our local Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma community purchased our years ago. The lectures were recorded and the next week available for sale. Yes, even while Yogi Bhajan was alive we were listening and watching his lectures. Your local Kundalini Yoga or Sikh Dharma community may have done the same. I noticed that both Yoga West in Los Angeles, CA and Vancouver, BC both have a video class.
2) Yogi Bhajan was also a Sikh, what about those lectures?
Yes, he was also known as Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogi ji. Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma are closely connected and intertwined.
A friend suggested that I review lectures that are already on line both yoga and Sikh, I will be getting to that soon, lots going on! SikhNet is another wonderful site for Yogi Bhajan's teachings.
SikhNet: http://www.sikhnet.com/
3) I noticed that your explanation of the lecture or meditation is different then the official version?
Your commentary is welcomed, provided you listen or watch the original unedited lecture. Official versions are necessary yet that is not my intention or role.
4) What is your connection to Yogi Bhajan?
My Kundalini Yoga and Meditation practice started in 1974 and my Sikh Dharma practice started in 1978. I have been at it ever since...my personal mantra is "participate, share and contribute."
